As you maybe aware I’ve returned to work doing 15 hours over three days which has been a real positive step, although my  family sometimes get concerned about how weary I get. But I have learnt to quit early and even not come into work if I’m not up to it – progress indeed!

 Tomorrow sees my second dose of my fourth cycle of chemotherapy which will then cease whilst I have a scan to see whether I’ve responded or not to the treatment. If so they will continue with two further cycles before Christmas, if not then they’ll try something else. Personally I swing between hope and fear. Hope that the scans will show the cancer cells dying, and fear that they will have grown! Thats why your faith has proved so important for me. There are so many of you who stand in faith for my healing and I’m able to cling to that, especially when mine seems weak. I’m constantly grateful that my healing is neither dependant on my faith or my strength, cos I have nothing. I learn more and more daily about God’s strength in my weakness, in fact the song “strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord” seems to tell my story very well.

This morning I saw my eldest son off to start his  gap year in Durban, South Africa with the charity “Lions Raw”. He had originally been due to go early in September but due to a number of delays has only just left, however I can see God’s hand in that as Sean is so much more relaxed about my health, with a stronger sense of trusting God than I have ever seen. For us as a family we have learnt so much about daily trusting God that I find myself with little anxiety about his time away as I am assured that he is following God’s guiding and God is faithful.

The faithfulness of God is something which I want to encourage you to cling to. Throughout the last months medical professionals have changed their story to me frequently, showing me clearly the fickleness of man. God is constant and consistent, his nature does not change and I wonder how others on a similar journey travel this path without knowing a faithful father.

God is good and faithful and worthy of our praise.
